How to unlock a password-protected PDF you own
Sometimes you protect a file with a password and later need to remove it, to access it more easily or merge it with other files. This tool removes protection from a file you own and know the password for — it isn't meant for opening files you don't have the right to access.
Steps
- Open the Unlock PDF tool and add your protected file.
- Enter the file's current password.
- Download the new version without a password.
Tips
- Only use this on your own files, or files you're legally authorised to handle.
- If you've forgotten the password itself, the tool can't recover it — it doesn't break the protection.
- Keep a protected copy somewhere safe if you'll need the protection again later.
